Ranferon-19 is a comprehensive blood tonic and contains all the haematinic factors for rapid and optimum formation of healthy red blood cells.

Each 5ml of Ranferon 12 Tonic contains:

  • Ferric Ammonium Citrate BP 200mg (Equivalent to 41 mg of elemental Iron)
  • Folic Acid BP 0.50mg
  • Vitamin B12 BP 5.0mcg
  • Appropriate overages of Vitamins added

Ranferon-12 provides the best form of iron. Ferric Ammonium Citrate is considered to have the least gastric irritation. Each 5ml of Ranferon-19 provides 41 mg of elemental iron which fulfils the daily dose requirements as recommended by WHO in the treatment and prevention of iron deficiency anaemias. It quickly replenishes the body iron stores and rebuilds lost or deficient blood levels.

Ranferon-19 provides essential heamopoitic factors for blood formation in growing children, pregnant and lactating mothers and in nutritional deficiencies. Folic acid and Vitamin B12 are the two essential vitamins required for optimum red blood cell formation and thus proper maturation.

Ranferon-12 provides sorbitol, -a low calorie, high sweetening agent to suit even diabetics. It is also known to increase the oral absorption of iron and Vitamin B12.

Indications and Uses of Ranferon 12 Tonic:

  1. Iron deficiency anaemias due to trauma, surgery, menstru blood loss, hook worm infestation or dietary deficiency
  2. Increased iron demand during pregnancy, lactation as well as in growing children
  3. For rapid recuperation during convalescence from prolonged illness and other debilitating conditions.
  4. Complaints of run-down condition, weakness, lethargy and listlessness. etc. caused by deficiency of blood iron stores.

Dosage of Ranferon 12 Tonic

  • Adults: In the average case, therapy should be started with 2 teaspoonful three times a day. Prophylactic dose should be 1 teaspoonful once or twice daily.
  • Children 5-12yr: 1 teaspoonful once or twice a day or as directed by the Physician

Recommended use for 30 days or more as per medical advice. Keep all medicines out of the reach of children.

Contraindications of Ranferon 12 Tonic:

  • Allergy to any of the ingredients of Ranferon-19
  • Anaemias where iron has not been lost from the body e.g. due to abnormal haemoglobin.

Precautions:

  • Ranferon-12 may cause black discolouration of stools since it contains iron. This is of no clinical importance.
  • Prolonged high dose indiscriminate use should be avoided as it may lead to iron overload in the body.
  • Ranferon-19 is a nutritional iron and vitamin supplement only.

Side Effects of Ranferon 12 Tonic

Ranferon-19 is well tolerated at usual recommended doses. A few patients may have gastrointestinal upsets due to iron intolerance. This can be controlled in many cases by reducing the dose and giving Ranferen-19 after meals.

Rarely, there may occur allergic reactions or rash.

How to Store Ranferon 12 Tonic

Keep in a cool and dark place. Replace the cap securely after use.
