Spadose tablet is a formulation of B vitamins for treatment and supplementation in cases of deficiency of all or any of the active ingredients.

Each tablet of Spadose contains:

  • Thiamine Mononitrate (Vit B1) 50 mg
  • Pyridoxine HCI (Vit B6) 100 mg
  • Cyanocobalamin (Vit B12) 100 μg

Actions and Pharmacology of Spadose

Cyanocobalamin (B12)

Cyanocobalamin acts as a coenzyme for fat and carbohydrate metabolism. It is essential for growth, replication haematopoiesis and nucleoprotein and myelin synthesis.

Thiamine (B1) and pyridoxine (B6)

Thiamine pyrophosphate and pyridoxal phosphate, the physiologically active forms of thiamine and pyridoxine respectively, act as coenzymes for various metabolic functions affecting protein, carbohydrate and lipid metabolism. The B vitamins are readily absorbed orally except in malabsorption syndrome, metabolised in the liver and excreted via the kidneys.

Indications and Uses of Spadose

For treatment of nutritional vitamin B1, B6 and B12 deficiencies, peripheral neuritis and in conditions requiring increased intake of Vitamins B 1, 6 and 12 such as in alcoholism, hepatic disease, hyperthyroidism, infection, lactation, pregnancy and malabsorption syndromes.

Contraindications of Spadose

It is not recommended for patients with Leber’s disease since optic nerve atrophy may occur.

Precautions

  • Caution in patients with history of gout or hepatic disease
  • Do not exceed the recommended dosage during self medication with this drug.
  • Follow physician’s directions if medication is prescribed

Main Side and Adverse Effects of Spadose

Diarrhoea and ching may occur occasionally

Drug Interactions with Spadose

Spadose Tablet may reduce the effects of levodopa

Overdosage

It is usually well tolerated

Dosage and Administration of Spadose

Adults: Oral 1 tablet daily, or as directed by the physician

Children: As directed by the physician

Storage

Store below 25 C. Protect from light and moisture.
